I got into the marine aquarium hobby when I was 14 and quickly realized I wanted to pursue a career in the aquatics profession.  4 years later, I moved to Florida to start my journey at Florida Institute of Technology.  In 1997, after graduating with a degree in Marine Biology and another in Aquaculture, I couldn’t wait to start my career.  I have worked in a few different sectors of aquaculture since then and have successfully bred over 40species of marine fish and invertebrates.  My professional background includes molecular biology research with the zebra fish, Dania rerio, at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, commercial marine ornamental aquaculture at Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums in Ft. Pierce, FL, and food fish aquaculture at the former Kona Blue Water Farms in Kona, HI.  All this experience and education has led me to my current position at Reed Mariculture where, after twelve years, I am working primarily with copepods.  My goals are to make culturing copepods affordable and reliable so that they can be more readily used in finfish and invertebrate aquaculture, globally.  Working with other nations, universities and private companies has helped to accelerate that!  I currently live in Santa Cruz, CA on the lovely Monterey Bay with my wife and two young children.  Camping, gaming, rucking and German WW2 history are a few of my favorite things.
